Herodotus (I:107-108) tells the following story, “Astyages had a daughter, whom he called Mandane: about whom he dreamt that so much water flowed from her that it filled his city and all Asia. He described this vision to the Magi, the interpreters of dreams, and when he heard what they told him he was terrified.” Ever since I first read these lines, I have imagined that Astyages had this dream after spending the previous night in line with his daughter waiting to purchase tickets to some pop concert. But in the light of this cartoon I could be wrong. Thanks for the laugh.
